When my buddy Paul and I started pod casting, we strived to up hold a specific standard in sound quality from the start.  However, we are college students with standard paying jobs. After probing the internet for studio microphones, Paul discovered one that was good and we could afford. Our set up is the Snowball from blue with a ringer shock mount and pop filter. The Snowball from Blue is reasonably priced piece of equipment; it puts out great sound quality as well as a modern sleek design.  Well I finally picked up one of my own and here are the photos of me putting it together. Here’s the truth: I saw this film two days ago at a special early screening. I could’ve (and perhaps, should’ve) written this review as soon as I got home that night. The truth is that, coming out of that theater, I had mixed feelings about this movie. With that said, I’m going to give you the shortest, most efficient review I can give you without spoiling any major details. Regardless of what you may have heard or read, you should just see it for yourself and form your own opinion; this movie deserves at least that much. So… here we go.

The Good: It’s great to see Harrison Ford back as Indiana Jones again—he hasn’t lost his touch. It was also great to see Karen Allen as Marion again—seeing her was like being re-united with a long lost love. I loved Cate Blanchett as a Russian and I even liked Shia LeBeouf’s character; Just as I’d hoped, Shia added a clever and comedic element that this film required. Despite its flaws, this movie has moments that remind you of when you were just a kid, seeing your favorite hero crack his whip and doing the things only Indiana Jones could do. The theme of the film is basically about appreciating life and choosing to live a happy one—considering what all the characters have been through, it fits perfectly.

The Bad: George Lucas—enough with the flippin’ CGI, already! CGI gophers, CGI monkeys, and huge CGI ants? Really? Thank God they didn’t all get together for some kind of cheesy musical number at the finale! One of the things that made all three previous Indy movies so great was that, by using conventional methods of filming, everything was believable. With this installment, it’s pretty obvious where reality meets green-screen.

The element of danger—in all three previous Indiana Jones movies, there were moments that had you on the edge of your seat, wondering if your hero would come out alive. They even had moments where you were wondering if Indy was going to be able to save that supporting character that you really liked. In this film, these moments do not exist—during the film’s entirety I felt no threat whatsoever to any of the characters. Nor was I intimidated by any of the villains. This movie didn’t really feel like an Indiana Jones movie—not the way that the previous installments can still make you feel if you were to pop the dvds in right now, but maybe that was the point.

The Ugly: The cold, hard truth about this movie is: when you get over all of your fanboy feelings and nostalgia—the excitement of seeing Indiana Jones back for another adventure—by the time the next big summer movie is released—certainly by the time The Dark Knight is released—you will have forgotten all about The Kingdom of The Crystal Skull.

I’m so pissed off right now that I can barely muster up the words to express it. I’ll just keep this as short as possible. Season 7 of Smallville, overall, was a decent season. It had many moments that made me very excited about where the show was going—until today, when the CW finally revealed the series’ destination: straight down the toilet. Just thinking about how crappy the season finale was is making my blood pressure go up, so I’m just going to list off the reasons why, then I’m going to see if I can find a better show to flush out all the bullshit I just absorbed. Here’s a short list of why Smallville’s latest season finale was complete garbage:

1. More commercials than show. Maybe the CW thought we’d get so confused from all the advertising that we’d actually believe the episode was going somewhere…

2. Full of corny and sappy moments between characters I really could care less about in this particular episode.

3. Cut to commercial.

4. Predictable plot twists. Brainiac gets “killed”… again… and I’m sure he’ll be back… again.

5. Nothing exciting happens at all.

6. Cuts to commercial again.

7. Holy stupid, stupid, stupid, anti-climatic endings, Batman!

8. Once again, the writers of the show manage to keep Clark Kent’s character lame and un-superman-like. I thought Lana’s character was bad, but Clark is catching up quickly—almost with super-speed.

9. I lost an hour of my life that I will never get back. 

10. Most of that hour was filled with stupid commercials that nobody gives a shit about!

Is there anyone out there that was actually able to extract something good from this season finale? I’d love to know… or, who agrees this episode was complete and utter crap—possibly the worst episode of the show since it began? Leave comments!

The folks over at IGN were fortunate to get an exclusive debut of the new trailer for X-Files: I Want To Believe. I want to believe that this movie might actually be good, but after watching this trailer I felt nothing to reinforce that belief. Meh… decide for yourself HERE. I’m sticking with the super heroes this summer.

This is not a joke. Not only did Universal snag the adaptation rights to last year’s hit game, but Gore Verbinski from the ‘Pirates of The Carribbean’ series is set to direct!! In other words, we’re most likely guaranteed that this video-game/movie adaptation will blow us right out of the depths of Rapture! I’m just as skeptical as the rest of you, but come on—Verbinski was able to produce a knockout trilogy from a freakin’ theme-park ride! Imagine what he’ll be able to do with a video-game with actual substance… Trust me, this is good news. For the rest of the scoop click HERE. What are your thoughts?

Ok. Personally, I am split in two over this information leaking. A couple of days ago I actually came across the Two-Face photo that has now leaked all over the flippin’ place. I was reluctant to post the photo on this site, because I did not want to contribute to the spoilage of The Dark Knight. So, I’m going to leave the decision up to you all. You decide whether or not you want to spoil this for yourself. Flip a coin and decide—I must warn you, though: this photo is from concept art, however, the look is extremely accurate and matches what the latest trailer hinted at. Most likely, this is Two-Face. On a side note, Warner Bros. is already pulling this image off of other sites, one by one. It’s only a matter of time before the link above is useless as well.
